Despite living what I thought was a healthy lifestyle, I found myself struggling with rapid heart rate, flutters, and skipped beats. I brushed off these warning signs, thinking they were just normal to my heart or that I was just dehydrated. Little did I know, a silent killer was lurking within me. One day while I was playing golf with a friend, I looked at my Apple watch and noticed my heart rate was 160 bpm and I couldn’t get it to come down. The next thing I knew, I was in the emergency room facing a diagnosis of serious heart issues that were pushing me towards a massive stroke. Although I was healthy in so many areas, my heart was not. It was a wake up call that I never saw coming. The culprit behind my heart issues? Years of unhealthy stress that had silently accumulated, taking a toll on my well-being.
This pivotal moment led me to a decision that would alter the course of my life – undergoing a successful heart ablation surgery to treat my AFib, tachycardia, and atrial flutters. It was an emotional journey, but one that ultimately brought me to the place of healing and renewal. I praise God and my very accomplished electrophysiologist. However, my story doesn’t stop there…
A few months following the surgery, grief and stress from processing unexpected consecutive life events began to take its toll. Before I knew it, I was back into AFib.
That’s when I realized that stress was again affecting my heart health. At that point I said, this is no longer a need but a must. I knew that I must regain control of my health so that I could live a heart healthy lifestyle.
I stand before you as a living testament to the power of resilience and the transformative impact of prioritizing your health and well-being. Now, I enjoy the freedom of living confidently knowing the tools that help to nourish my heart health. I am no longer living in fear of the return of AFib, tachycardia, atrial flutters, or other concerning heart symptoms. My hope is that by sharing my story, I can inspire others to listen to their bodies, and their heart, to seek help when needed and embark on their own journey towards healing and wholeness.
